The Friends of Vintage Trains is holding its second social evening on Thursday 14 May 2020 at the Tyseley WMC, just across the road from Tyseley Locomotive works, with doors opening at 6.30 p.m. At 7 p.m. John Perkin will be giving a talk on ‘Rails through Birmingham’, looking back on journeys from Worcester and Swindon in the south to Shrewsbury in the west, covering the GWR through Tyseley and Snow Hill and the LMS via Lickey and beyond.
There will also be a raffle to raise funds towards the cost of the evening; prizes will include some railway-themed items.
The timetable for the evening is:
-
- 6.30: Doors open. Complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits available
- 7.00: John’s talk starts
- 7.45: Refreshment break; complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits available
- 8.00: Talk continues
- 8.30: Discussion and Questions and Answers
The bar will be open after the event to continue discussion and refreshment.
There is no charge to members of the Friends of Vintage Trains for the evening, who may bring one guest in return for a suggested donation to cover the room hire and refreshment costs. Free car parking will be available at the Tyseley Locomotive Depot car park; the gates will close at 6.55pm. There are a limited number of seats so please register for this social using the registration form – entry to the evening may be refused unless you have registered. Since this is a social for Friends of Vintage Trains members, with room hire and other costs being covered by the Friends, please be prepared to show your membership card on arrival.
Please note that Community Benefit Society Shareholders who did not take the added benefit of membership of the Vintage Trains Society (the forerunner of Friends of Vintage Trains) and Tyseley volunteers are not automatically members of the Friends of Vintage Trains and unfortunately are not eligible to attend this social event unless they have also joined the Friends of Vintage Trains.
This continues the occasional series of Members’ social events, and your Committee would welcome any thoughts for future social events. Please let us know using the registration form or on the evening.
