The Friends have added a social media presence by launching a Facebook page and discussion group as well as a Twitter presence.
The Facebook page is at @FriendsofVT, and will complement this website. Follow or Like this page to hear the latest news and developments from the Friends as they happen.
The Facebook discussion group Friends of Vintage Trains Discussion Group is a private group for members of the Friends who are on Facebook to have discussions on all aspects of the Friends’ activities. Being a private group, all posts to the group and the membership of the group can only be seen by members of the group, not by any other Facebook users. Some members of the Friends committee are also in the group and welcome the opportunity to join in discussions between members of the Friends.
To join the discussion group:
- Search for Friends of Vintage Trains Discussion Group in the Facebook search bar
- Request to join the group by following the Join button in the group description
- To confirm that this request is from a member of the Friends, give your membership number or house number and postcode when prompted. Although the request to join can be submitted without giving these details, the request will not be approved by the group administrator if they are missing or incorrect. This ensures that this group is one of the additional membership benefits from joining the Friends
- We aim to act on all requests to join the group within 48 hours, although this cannot be guaranteed

We hope that this social media presence will broaden the appeal of the Friends, provide a new source of information about the Friends as well as adding a new way for members who are on Facebook and Twitter to hold discussions between themselves and the Friends committee.
