Talks to Clubs and Societies

If you are looking for a speaker to give a talk to your Club or Society, The Friends of Vintage Trains has a small group of volunteer speakers who can give illustrated talks about our operations to meetings at venues in selected locations in the Midlands area.

Our talks are non-technical that appeal to a wide audience of interests; they usually include aspects of some or all of the following topics with a specific focus upon one of the subjects. We can tailor a talk to your particular requirements.

Due to the change of organisation of Vintage Trains into a full train operating company, at this time we are unable to make any firm arrangements for giving talks but please contact us as described below if you would be interested in a talk and we will contact you to see how we may be able to help.

Talk Themes

  • The Shakespeare Express – our summer Sundays Birmingham, Stratford and Henley Steam Train service.
  • Vintage Trains Excursions – our steam hauled tours, our classic heritage diesel and electric tours to places of interest or travelling along interesting routes.
  • Tyseley Open Days – our popular gala events at our home base featuring engines in steam, turntable demos, cavalcades and shuttle rides.
  • Tyseley Locomotive Works – a look at some of the restoration & maintenance activities for our own operations and contract work for other locomotive owners.
